The ceramic processing is carried out strictly in our laboratories in Caltagirone, the city of ceramics par excellence, following the ancient artisan techniques and respecting the times and methods of the different phases, expertly carried out by skilled craftsmen.

Below is a brief description of the various phases:

MODELING:

The creation of our ceramics begins with clay, a natural and versatile raw material that, with the skill of a master potter, is shaped to give shape to unique pieces of various sizes. Using a potter's wheel, an ancient and fascinating tool, our craftsman transforms the raw clay into an object of art.

Every object that comes from this process is not just a piece of ceramic, but a piece of art that carries with it the history and tradition of Caltagirone ceramics. The skill of our potter, combined with the quality of the clay and the ancient technique of the potter's wheel, creates unique and unrepeatable pieces, witnesses of the passion we put into our work.

DRYING:

After modeling, each piece of ceramic is left to dry, a crucial step in preserving its shape and structure before firing.

FIRST COOKING:

Once all the water has been lost, the objects are ready for an initial firing which takes place in ovens at around 1000°C.
The object thus passes from the raw layer to the cooked one (biscuit) and is ready for the next phase.

ENAMELLING:

The objects are immersed in vats of liquid enamel. Thanks to the porosity of the surface, the enamel adheres, preparing the object for coloring.

DECORATION:

Once glazed, the objects are ready for the most fascinating artistic phase: decoration. Here, skilled artists take brushes and powdered colors diluted in water, transforming each piece of ceramic into a unique masterpiece.

With precise and creative movements, the decorators paint beautiful designs and patterns, giving life to works of art that reflect the authentic tradition with a Sicilian flavour.

SECOND COOKING:

Once the decoration phase is complete, our objects are ready for the second firing, a crucial process that consolidates the paint and enamels. This firing takes place at a temperature between 900 and 970 °C, optimal for giving stability and durability to the materials.

At this temperature, a phenomenon called fusion occurs between the glaze and the clay, which is essential for the creation of our ceramics. During this fusion, the glazes bind to the clay, creating a smooth and shiny surface that characterizes each of our pieces. The final result is a high quality product, with a unique shine.

This artisanal approach to production, combined with the use of high-quality materials and traditional techniques, ensures that each piece in our collection is beautiful to look at and also long-lasting.
